meet Maribi Henriquez, LCSW
gen z and millennial mental health, financial anxiety and channeling your inner teen.
meet Maribí Henriquez, LCSW (she/her), a powerhouse therapist, first-generation Dominican-American, and founder of Project Chula. during our convo, Maribí opens up about her journey growing up as the daughter of immigrant parents, and how she has navigated the complexities of identity, belonging, and the unique role of being a cultural bridge.
one of the most powerful parts of our chat was diving into the mental health challenges that Gen Z and millennials—particularly those from immigrant backgrounds—are facing today. from topics like financial anxiety, the reality of navigating a post-COVID world, and the pressure to keep up with a culture that pushes hyperconsumerism at every turn- this was such a grounding conversation, especially because Maribí speaks from her experience as both a therapist and someone who has lived through and navigated these struggles herself.
we also got into one of our favorite topics: the ‘inner teen.’ 🖤 you know, that part of us that’s a little angsty, but also so curious and open to exploration? Maribí talks about how reconnecting with our inner teen helps us make decisions that feel true to who we are—not who we think we should be.
throughout our conversation, we explored what it means to feel the pressure of being a Superwoman, and why it’s so important to let go of that narrative, especially as people and women of color and unpacking the hidden power in softness.
